GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK, NJ! The primary goal of this newsletter is a simple one: keep fans of The Stone Pony informed about what's going on at the club, and encourage them to come by, hang out and see the shows. What amazed me about the feedback from the last newsletter, is that there are many fans that live around the world, far outside the highways and hills of New Jersey. This made me realize the newsletter also serves another purpose: help fans everywhere become a part of what goes on in this small strip of Ocean Avenue. To feel that they are involved with the scene, and the bands that play here. We hope that this newsletter, the web site, and other ideas that are floating around, will help to do this through stories and photos. Those of you who are fortunate enough to live near the club, be sure to stop by and see a few shows this summer, there are some cool new additions to the calendar. For those of you who have not had the opportunity to attend a show, be sure to keep us in mind if you're ever in the New York City or New Jersey areas. The club is easy to locate off the Garden State Parkway, and we want all to feel welcome to participate. After all, no one rocks like New Jersey. Well, at least that's what the bands like to say when they're on our stage! |

THE E STREET BAND'S NILS LOFGREN BRINGS HIS TOUR TO THE HOUSE THAT
BRUCE BUILT
Certain concerts are more than just shows. They are events. When Nils Lofgren brings his tour to The Stone Pony on Saturday, August 18th, it will be one of those events. Ever since the club announced this date, there has been tremendous interest among fans. While tickets are not yet available, it's easy to understand why this could be one of the most exciting evenings of the summer. Lofgren, who has enjoyed a long and successful solo career, as well as collaborations with artists such as Neil Young, Ringo Starr, John Eddie and Patti Scialfa, has played with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band since 1984. He performed on the "Tunnel of Love" (CBS) album, and the recently released "Live in New York City" (Sony/Columbia) CD, as well as several world tours, including "Born in the USA" and the "1999-2000 World Tour". A complete list of his many credits can be found on his web site, www.nilslofgren.com, where fans can also purchase several of his solo albums and videos. If you really want to be impressed, scan the discography - it looks as if the guy has been working non-stop since 1968. Watch The Stone Pony web site, and your e-mailbox, for details about how to get tickets to this show and when they'll be on sale. This is an event that you will not want to miss! |

AMFIBIAN BREATHES FRESH AIR ON THE STONE PONY BUD LIGHT OUTDOOR STAGE
Phish lyricist Tom Marshall brings his seven-piece all-star band Amfibian to The Stone Pony outdoor stage on Saturday, June 23rd. The Rutgers University graduate, along with fellow Princeton native Chris Harford, Lawrenceville's Peter Cottone and Scott Metzger, Skillman's Andrew Southern, Trenton's Matt Kohut and South New Berlin, New York's John Paul Wasicko, should all receive a warm welcome home when they return to the Pony in support of their album, Amfibian Tales (Furry Thug). The outdoor stage should be the perfect forum for this jam band to do their thing and fans that have missed their other popular area appearances should make it a point to get tickets for this one. If you can't locate Amfibian Tales, buy it from the Furry Thug web site at http://www.furrythug.com/Artists/Marshall/amfibianTalesCD.php. For more on the band, you can check out the official web page at http://www.amfibian.com/ or the excellent featured artist piece on the band located at: http://www.burlybear.com/music/featured_artist/amfibian/. |
