McLoone's, in its current incarnation, was purchased by a group of local investors on New Year's Eve 1986. Led by local entertainer Tim McLoone, the investment group also includes
ABC-TV news anchor Jack Ford. At the time of the purchase, the building housed the old "Rum Runner" owned by Nick Egidio, an inveterate Giants football fan. In fact, in the20 years
Nick and his wife Irene owned the building, it was most famous for its Monday Night Football gathering featuring that week's Giant's gridiron hero. This was started long before TV's
version of Monday Night Football. |
